I believe that offering the best care requires a commitment to continual growth and learning. My educational background, combined with diverse training programs, has equipped me to offer you a well-rounded and informed approach to therapy.
I have a Master of Science (MSci) in Counselling & Psychotherapy: Professional Practice from University of Salford. This in-depth program provided me with a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic principles and practices. It combined rigorous academic training with extensive hands-on experience, enabling me to support individuals through diverse personal challenges. Throughout the course, I developed advanced skills in various therapeutic approaches. The program also included a significant focus on ethical practice, clinical supervision, and professional development, ensuring that I am well-equipped to deliver effective, compassionate, and evidence-based therapy.
Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, University of the West of Scotland): this evidence-based approach helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours)
Certificate in Mentoring (University of the West of Scotland): mentoring enhances essential skills like active listening, clear communication, and trust-building, all of which are crucial in therapy. It empowers clients to recognize their strengths, helps set realistic goals, and promotes self-reflection, enabling personal growth. This flexibility and adaptability from mentoring complement my work as a therapist, creating a supportive and goal-oriented environment for healing
My education, training and practical experience enabled me to develop as an Integrative Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapist. This approach to therapy combines several therapeutic techniques, adapting them to your specific needs, while always keeping you, the client, at the heart of the process. Among the therapeutic techniques I use are:
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT): CFT is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals develop self-compassion and compassion for others. It integrates cognitive-behavioural techniques with concepts of compassion to address issues like shame, anxiety, and depression, promoting emotional healing and resilience.
Trauma Therapy including Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: Trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that can significantly affect an individual’s mental and emotional well-being. Therapists often work with trauma survivors to help them process their experiences and develop coping strategies. Trauma-sensitive mindfulness integrates mindfulness practices with trauma-informed care, helping clients navigate difficult emotions in a safe, grounded way.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT): this brief therapeutic approach concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring hope for the future, rather than focusing on past problems. It encourages clients to envision their desired outcomes and identify steps to achieve them.
Expressive Therapies: These therapies use creative expression (such as art, music, or drama) to help individuals communicate feelings, explore emotions, and process experiences. Expressive therapies are particularly beneficial for those who may struggle to articulate their thoughts verbally.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): EFT emphasizes understanding and processing emotions as a pathway to healing. It helps individuals become aware of their emotional experiences, express them in a safe environment, and integrate emotions into their coping strategies.

I understand that online therapy can feel different from in-person sessions, but creating a comfortable, private space for yourself can make all the difference. It’s important that you have a quiet place where you feel both physically and emotionally safe. While some clients have joined sessions from their cars when necessary, having your own room where you can relax, and focus is ideal. You might want to have a drink nearby, tissues, or anything else that helps you feel at ease.
Our sessions will always begin with a gentle check-in on how you’re feeling. Sometimes clients arrive ready to dive right into what’s on their minds, while others need a moment to talk about the stressors or emotions they’re carrying. I may also briefly summarize what we discussed in our previous session, as a way to reconnect and help guide the conversation. From there, I’ll ask what feels important for you to talk about today or where you'd like to begin.
After every six sessions, we’ll take some time for a mini review. This is an opportunity for us to reflect on your progress, explore how you're feeling about the process, and discuss any adjustments you’d like to make. It’s a time for you to share any feedback, if you feel comfortable, and for us to deepen our therapeutic relationship. Together, we’ll also assess whether you feel ready to work towards a conclusion or if there's more you'd like to explore.
Throughout our work together, my goal is to provide a compassionate and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore whatever you need.
I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality in my practice. Your personal information and therapy sessions are treated with the utmost respect and care. I strictly adhere to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) guidelines, ensuring that your data is protected and handled in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
